With just a month before the election, HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” was taped at Atlantic Video in Washington D.C. in front of a live audience of more than 200. With guests including comedian Robin Williams, talk show host Chris Matthews, Senator John Kerry (D-Mass), Richard Clarke and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), Maher shook it up with some “new rules” created just for the occasion.
“Until the deficit comes down, Washington’s tourist attractions must take on corporate sponsors. Sports stadiums have done it. Why not the La-Z-Boy Lincoln Memorial? Purina Dog Chow’s Korean War Memorial? Or the Viagra Washington Monument? It’s not that far of a stretch – we already have the ExxonMobil White House,” Maher said.
Bill Maher is one of the most politically astute humorists in America today. In 2003, Maher launched "Real Time with Bill Maher" on HBO, an hour-long show that airs live at 11 p.m. on Friday nights. The show has received multiple Emmy and Writer’s Guild of America nominations. Each week, Bill's opening monologue, incisive interviews and stimulating panel discussion, as well as his extremely popular "New Rules" segment, serve to wrap up the week's most important events in a way that makes you think, as well as laugh.
